Libraries and Society: All-Russian Library Congress to hold in a blended format in Petrozavodsk
All-Russian Library Congress - XXV Anniversary Annual Conference of the Russian Library Association will be held in on-site and remote formats from May 16 to 20, 2021, in Petrozavodsk - the Library Capital of Russia in 2021. The conference is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Karelia.
All events will be online with a limited number of full-time participants in Petrozavodsk.
The Congress of the Russian Library Association traditionally takes place on the eve of the All-Russian Day of Libraries. It is a key annual event of the year in the library field. It is intended for representatives of all kinds of libraries, information institutions, specialized universities and their partners, regardless of membership in the Russian Library Association. The congress in Petrozavodsk was postponed for a year due to restrictions in the work of the Russian libraries. The present event marks two anniversaries of 2020: the 25th anniversary of the Russian Library Association and the centenary of the Republic of Karelia.
The general topic of the Congress is "Library 2030: Building the Future Today".
Last year, libraries in Russia (as well as throughout the world) faced serious challenges. They had to change their usual work quickly. Experts were actively exploring new opportunities for interaction in a remote format, not only with readers but also with each other: an intensive exchange of relevant experience on Internet websites became one of the most significant features of 2020. The Congress will provide an opportunity to share the best practices and comprehend which of them will be useful in the future - in the "Library 2030".
The Congress program will traditionally include the Compiler's School, Library Blogger's School, Restorer's School, and training seminars.
The XXI Exhibition of Publishing Products, New Information Technology, Goods and Services for Libraries (remote format) will work during the Congress.
