Information Technology and Culture: Google Arts & Culture launched a digital platform about Egypt’s archaeological treasures
The Google Arts & Culture organisation has teamed up to create the digital platform Preserving Egypt’s Layered History with archaeologists at the American Research Centre in Cairo. The new project accumulates information about architectural masterpieces and treasures of Ancient Egypt.
Now it is possible to take online tours of Egypt's most important archaeological sites - from Pharaonic tombs to Mamluk mosques, and from Coptic monasteries to Roman villas.
The platform provides about 40 sections in total. Website users may explore the 3D version of Menna Tomb and Mamluk Mosque, walk the streets of Ancient Cairo, or learn about the restoration of the Leishaa Jewish cemetery. It also promotes short videos with answers to popular questions from Egyptologists.
