Marking 2020 UEFA European Football Championship: "Russian Football: Milestones in History" exhibition opened in Moscow
The "Russian Football: Milestones in History" exhibition was launched at the House of the Russian Historical Society in Moscow. The exposition is devoted to the history of national football, which is more than a hundred years old. The organizers of the exhibition project are the Russian Historical Society, the "History of the Fatherland" Foundation and the State Sports Museum of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
The exhibition highlights the history of national football, focusing on the key events. Each of the 12 stands spotlights particular periods: the origin of football in pre-revolutionary Russia, the development of this sport in Soviet times, war and post-war periods. It also tells about the "golden years"- the victories of our football players at the 1956 and 1988 Olympics and the first European Championship, achievements of Russian football and the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
It also features football uniforms, signs and medals of victorious Olympiads and international championships, photographs and documents from the archives of the State Sports Museum. Among the most interesting exhibits are the Olympic Medal of the legendary Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin and the goalkeeper's glove of Anzor Kavazashvili with his autograph.
