Society and Culture: Exhibition "Ivan Shishkin: Aspects of Nature" launched in Krasnoyarsk

18 July 2021

The Vasily Surikov Krasnoyarsk Art Museum launched the exhibition "Ivan Shishkin: Aspects of Nature". It will run until September 19, 2021.

Ivan Shishkin was not only an excellent painter and drawer but also a great master of Russian engraving. He created over a hundred graphic works depicting Russian nature.

The exposition presents more than twenty works in various graphic techniques, promoted by the Vasily Surikov Krasnoyarsk Art Museum.

The exhibition features rare prints and little-known graphic works by Ivan Shishkin. It comprises the artist's works from the three most famous albums and several separate impressions.

The artist's engravings accurately represent all kinds of plants: from old oaks and pines to blades of grass. His black and white works have many artistic features, graceful lines, small details and contrasting effects of light and shade.

The exposition showcases both unique prints of the famous master and the art of printed graphics and its various techniques.
