Information Technology and Culture: Specialists to create 3D model of the Millennium of Russia Monument in Veliky Novgorod

The Millennium of Russia Monument in Veliky Novgorod will be scanned with lasers. With the help of devices, specialists will create its geodetic model. They will measure the geometric parameters of the cultural heritage object and the neighbouring territory.

In the process of complex scientific research, the measuring of a cultural heritage object is the most significant part. At this stage, specialists reveal the features of its construction history that allow making preliminary conclusions and run deliberate research.

For example, it will help identify differences in the architectural and structural solution of its different parts, construction technique, materials, and mismatch of levels.

A 3D model of the monument will appear after a complete survey. The collected data will allow specialists to carry out an inventory, identification and comparative analysis of the rescued elements of the architectural and decorative solution.

Specialists of the "Heritage" restoration workshop from Saint-Petersburg will perform measurement works in the Novgorod Kremlin.
