Museums of Russia: State Tretyakov Gallery to present the special project "Tretyakov Gallery on the Move" in Vladivostok

30 August 2021

The State Tretyakov Gallery presents in Vladivostok the special project Tretyakov Gallery on the Move - a series of projects aimed at establishing dialogue with the Far East. It comprises a Museum Business joint master's program, developed together with the Far Eastern Federal University, and an exhibition of Konstantin Petrov-Vodkin's masterpiece 1918 in Petrograd in the Primorsky Art Gallery.

These projects are another step in the creation of a large-scale cultural, educational and museum cluster in Vladivostok. It is an initiative by President Vladimir Putin, announced in 2018 in his Address to the Federal Assembly. A part of the complex will be a branch of the State Tretyakov Gallery. Until the opening of its own exposition space, it arranges exhibitions and educational programs with regional partners.

The branch of the State Tretyakov Gallery in Vladivostok launches a special project Tretyakov Gallery on the Move. An interactive exhibition devoted to the museum will be held in a mobile pavilion on the upper platform of the amphitheatre on the embankment of the Sportivnaya Harbor. The relevant public education program will include lectures and workshops. The special project will run from August 30 to September 26, 2021.

A mobile version of a museum project without original works of art provides the dialogue with the region residents in an unexpected format. A friendly public space appears in a familiar urban environment for a conversation about the State Tretyakov Gallery, its collections, Russian art, and the essence of a museum.

A multimedia exposition of eight rooms will tell about Pavel Tretyakov and the gallery's collections. An interactive format will allow learning something new about masterpieces familiar to everyone from childhood or taking an excursion in a Moscow museum.

The public education program includes an express lecture course A Thousand Years of Russian Art, telling about the art of different times from the Middle Ages to the present. It gives an idea of the evolution of Russian art and its place among other European schools.

The film screenings program promotes films devoted to Russian artists. Particular attention is paid to the art of Primorsky Territory.

The complete program is available on the project's website - onthemove.tretyakov.ru.
