"Arts Center. Moscow” continues to exhibit the masterpieces of Flemish and Dutch painting of the 17th century from private collections. The exhibition "Golden XVII century" brings together Dutch and Flemish painting in order to clearly demonstrate the similarities and differences between the two national schools of the period of formation and prosperity.
In the history of art and the history of the Netherlands, the 17th century was named "Golden" due to the favorable economic situation and the significant number of artists working in the country. Painting in Flanders also developed rapidly. It was in the 17th century that the formation of the national schools of Holland and Flanders took place. In addition to national schools, the formation of art centers also took place. In Flanders, Antwerp remained, where the artists lived and worked. In the Northern Netherlands, many cities have become art centers. Among them - Amsterdam, Haarlem, Leiden, the Hague, Delft, Rotterdam, less significant - Middelburg. People from these art centers are represented by their works at the exhibition. Visitors to the exhibition will learn about the origin of the master at the place of birth and death, marked on the label.
The exhibition demonstrates the distinctive characteristics of national schools.
The artistic heritage of eminent and rare Dutch and Flemish painters presented at the exhibition, as well as their followers, has remained the golden collections of culture for more than three hundred years.
The exhibition is open to the public until March 31, 2022.
