Internet and Society: Moscow Main Archive launches new official website

Moscow’s Main Archive Directorate has launched a new official website with an improved interface and functionality. Now it will be easier for users to find the information they need, search for information about their ancestors and view unique documents both from a computer and from a mobile phone.

“The main novelty of the website is the opportunity for users of the online service “My Family” to leave comments under the funds, descriptions and cases that are posted in the service. In the online service it will be possible to share links to resources with other visitors, useful information that can help in finding information about relatives, and also discuss details of the materials. To leave a comment one needs to create a personal account on the website", - said the press service of the Moscow Main Archive.

"My Family" is an online service that helps citizens search for information about their ancestors who lived in Moscow and the Moscow province until 1917. Here are the registers of births, revision tales and confession statements. The interest of Internet users to the resource is growing, and today its audience is more than two million people. Moreover, almost 10 percent of them are residents of other states. The content of the online service is viewed by users from Sweden, China, Great Britain, Australia, Ireland, Belgium, Japan, Argentina, Canada and Thailand.

The My Family online service was launched in December 2020. The archive website contains instructions on how to find information about your ancestors.
