Marking the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia: The exhibition “Call to the Origins” takes place in the Kuzbass State Research Library in Kemerovo

The large-scale exhibition Call to the Origins is being held in the Fyodorov Kuzbass State Research Library (Kemerovo) until the end of year. It tells about the cultural heritage of the peoples of Kuzbass and is timed to coincide with the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia.

The exhibition project is implemented with the support of the main keepers and promoters of the cultural and historical memory of Kuzbass – the Kuzbass Folk Arts Centre, Kuzbass State Archive, Kuzbass Museum-Reserve “Tomskaya Pisanitsa”.

The exhibition project Call to the Origins is a key element of a large cultural and educational program of the Fyodorov Kuzbass State Research Library and the Kuzbass Folk Arts Centre which has been prepared for the residents of the region within the framework of the events marking the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia. The exhibition tells about the cultural heritage of the peoples of Kuzbass and is complemented by excursions, quests, reviews of information resources, public lectures, literary and art rooms, master classes on folk handicrafts, concerts and creative meetings with the representatives of performing arts.

The exhibition Call to the Origins is held in three halls of the library. The Art-Gallery features historical information about the origins and main milestones of the development of the peoples of Kuzbass. Here, visitors have an opportunity to see maps, archival documents, books, copies of old engravings and modern exhibits that reflect the themes of the unique art and culture of the indigenous population of the region, as well as the influence of the Russian Cossacks on the cultural heritage of the region.

The Fyodorov Hall of the library presents an image of the All-Kuzbass workshop of folk crafts, where authentic items and information on the masters who created them are displayed in a single space.

The Stained-Glass Hall showcases a kind of folk line-up that tells about the peoples of Kuzbass through costumes, household items, elements of folklore and photo materials.

The exposition Call to the Origins is regularly updated throughout the year, showing all treasures of the region’s folk culture. In order to provide an opportunity to explore the unique cultural heritage of the peoples of Kuzbass to as many people as possible, a mobile part of the exhibition is planned: during the year the mobile exhibition complemented by the cultural program will visit various cities and districts of Kuzbass.
