President of Russia: Vladimir Putin proposed to declare 2025 “the Year of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and Unity in the Fight against Nazism” in the CIS

President of Russia Vladimir Putin has proposed to declare 2025 the Year of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and Unity in the Fight against Nazism in the CIS.

The head of the state has presented such initiative at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States, taking place in Astana.

Vladimir Putin noted that the events of 2025, marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, will become a meaningful signal in the fight against Nazism.

As a result of the discussion, the leaders of the CIS member states have made the decision to declare 2024 the Year of the Volunteer Movement, 2025 – the Year of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War – the Year of Peace and Unity in the Fight Against Nazism, 2026 – the Year of Healthcare in the Commonwealth of Independent States.
