The Russian language abroad: the central China television started broadcasting in Russian

The central China television (CCTV) started the 24 hour broadcasting in Russian.
The broadcast will be operated via Chinasat satellites, the signal will cover the Asia and Pacific Ocean region, the Middle East and Europe. According to initial data the audience of the Russian CCTV will reach about 300 million people.
Initially the channel will translate 14 programmes: 5 information ones and 9 documentary ones. Among the programmes there are lessons of Chinese language and Chinese cuisine, telecasts on history and culture of the Celestial Empire.
The broadcast is timed to the Year of Russian language in Chinese People Republic and also to the 60th anniversary of Russian-Chinese diplomatic relations.
