International organizations: UNESCO and the World history

5 October 2009

Shortly before the opening of the General Conference of UNESCO the symposium has started its work in Paris headquarters of the Organization. Its participants will sum up the results of the long-term work on the World history and the history of Regions.

For more than 57 years 1800 historians and specialists in other fields have worked on this unique project. The work consists of 6 collections, dedicated to the history of humanity, the World history of Africa, the World history of Caribbean, the World history of Latin America, the history of civilizations of Central Asia and different aspects of Islamic culture. This work contributes to the deep understanding of civilizations and helps to realize the role of culture in the societies’ evolution.

The symposium’s participants will share the ideas on how to make the results of the hard work more accessible to schoolchildren, students and citizens of different countries. The chairmen of six scientific committees, who carried out the work on each of six books, will participate in the collective discussion.
