The Novosibirsk State Technical University holds the conference dedicated to the utilization of digital systems in the work of libraries.

At the opening ceremony of the conference the rector of the Novosibirsk State Technical University N. V. Pustovoy remarked, that all the universities and research institutions faced the dilemma of how to modernize its library’s system. Many chose digital libraries, however very often this raises the questions of the legal nature. «We have digitized a wide range of information, but this raises the question whether it is legal or not. Sooner or later the moment will come when we will face the same situation as that headmaster who had installed the unlicensed software on the computers. In fact the Ministry of Education has already issued the order on using the licensed programs. However for instance a number of computer programs for libraries totals to 10 mil. rubles – and these are large investments», - said N. V. Pustovoy.

All in all, almost all the libraries in Novosibirsk contain e-collections. Already the next year the branch of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library will be founded in Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library, which in its turn will control the work of all the libraries in Novosibirsk region.
