Unity Day: Presentation of book-album «Symbols of Russia» in the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library

On November 2 the presentation of the book-album “Symbols of Russia” prepared in the St. – Petersburg State University commemorating the upcoming holiday of Unity Day took place in the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library.

The presentation brought together the federal and city authorities, the directors of the principal museums of St. – Petersburg, scientists and cultural workers, representatives of “Russkiy Mir” foundation” and Russian business community. During the presentation part of the book’s circulation was solemnly transferred into the possession of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library and other major libraries.

The album-monograph “Symbols of Russia” of the State Chief Herald of the Russian Federation Georgy Vilinbahov focuses the reader’s attention on the history of national coat of arms, national flag, Russian banners, prizes and decorations. The book provides the analysis of the contemporary development of national symbols of Russia and is aimed both for specialists and for the wide readership interested in the history of Russia.

The text of the book-album is accompanied by a large number of rare illustrative material originating from the collections of major archives, libraries, museums and private collections of Russia and also by reference and bibliographic material.
