President of Russia: "Russia is going to assist Russian press abroad"
Russia is going to continue to assist the Russian press abroad, reported the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry A. Medvedev on December, 9 when answering the questions of journalists during the European and Asian Media Forum, organized by RIA News.
"I consider that we should support the Russian Press. I don’t think that this implies the interference into the domestic affairs of other states, because all the countries worldwide are eager to preserve their own language traditions... Undoubtedly we would like to go on to assist our Russian Press in the framework of the legislation of the countries you are representing today", - said D. A. Medvedev.
The President remarked that Russia provided the necessary programs, among them the program of assistance to compatriots.
"We are going to use them. But I agree that it would be even better to take the advantage of social potential, and use the funds of support. We do have such funds. We have recently set up several such organizations, and we are going to consolidate them – both in the financial and organizing aspects, in order the support and assistance of this kind originated not just from the state budget but from the private investments as well", - clarified the President.
The European and Asian Media Forum is the 4th forum of representatives of national Mass Media of post-Soviet countries. This kind of meeting was firstly initiated by RIA News in 2006. The aim of the annual forum – is to discuss urgent problems of Mass Media nowadays.
