Libraries of Russia: Samara regional library introduces plastic library tickets

The Samara scientific library will soon adopt an electronic service system. But Rome wasn’t built in one day. Firstly the usual paper library card will be replaced with a plastic card based on the radio-frequency identification system. It will store information on the reader, whereas the electronic database will provide information on the lent books.

In spring the library is going to implement an automated books’ lending system. First this system will be operating in the reading room, and later it will be used in the other library’s departments, informs  news.smbc.ru with a reference to the regional Ministry of Culture press-service.
