Presidential libraries abroad: Franklin D. Roosevelt’s personal papers go on display
The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum will host Presidents Day weekend events showcasing several of FDR’s many hobbies.
The program begins with the screening of a movie “The President’s Mystery (1936)”, based on the plotline developed by Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Following the film, visitors can view a selection of presidential autographs from the Roosevelt Library archives – many of them from FDR’s personal collection – on display only once a year. Many original documents from the Roosevelt Library archives bear the signatures of many of the nation’s presidents, including John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Martin Van Buren, Andrew Jackson, Teddy Roosevelt, Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy. Twenty-eight signatures will be on display, most of which were collected by FDR himself.
The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum is dedicated to preserving historical material and providing innovative educational programs, community events and public outreach.
It is one of 12 presidential libraries administered by the National Archives and Records Administration.
