Russian language: International Congress of Russian language and literature opened at the Moscow State University
The 4th International Congress of Russian language and literature has been launched by the Moscow State University. This scientific forum is coordinated by the University’s Faculty of Philology.
The forum has already gained the reputation of the largest platform for discussion, aimed at experts of Russian language and literature. This time it will attract 700 philologists from 30 countries of the world. The 3 days-forum will familiarize the participants with numerous reports, highlighting different aspects of contemporary linguistics. Among announced topics for discussion are: “Russian language on Internet”, “Language in Mass Media: accomplishments and failures”, “Russian language as a tool for influence”. Participants of the Congress will try to work out basic principles of the language policy.
“Fate of the great and mighty [Russian language] depends on the fate of the state, the fate of the state depends on that of the great and mighty. What awaits it? To my mind, a normal development. I think that we are going to get rid of all the current cases of abuse, because they are all a result of the low culture level of native speakers”, - Marina Remneva, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University said.
