Libraries abroad: National Library of Malaysia to launch a new project
The National Library of Malaysia will launch its digital library called "UBIQUITOUS" in July where the public can borrow books online.
"The books will be delivered by post. We want to change the mindset that books can only be borrowed at libraries and to provide better knowledge services," director-general Datuk Raslin Abu Bakar said. He said the library sector needs to be proactive in studying issues facing the community by creating new ideas to make our libraries world class.
Meanwhile, Digital Library director Nafisah Ahmad reported that the cost of delivery was still under discussion with the post agency of Malaysia. The books could be returned by contacting the post or by sending the books to selected post offices.
“Community of Practice” is an innovative program by the National library aimed at providing better services to the public.
