Libraries of Russia: “Best Municipal Librarian of the Year” to be recognized in Barnaul

Barnaul is going to recognize the “Best Municipal Librarian of the Year”.   

The annual prize was established by the Mayor of the City Vladimir Kolganov, which is called to encourage best librarians, improve their work and promote the development of professional and creative initiative.

The professional qualification contest will bring together representatives of municipal and school libraries. The winner will be chosen in accordance with the following criteria – bibliographical indexes and professional collections, prepared by the library’s staff member; projects on promotion of the main libraries’ activities; victories in professional contests; popularization of accomplishments among the library community of the city, krai, Russia etc.

Applications should be submitted to the City Committee on Culture up to April, 1. The award ceremony will take place on May, 27 – on the All-Russian Day of Libraries.

The prize winner 2009 became Irina Balatskaya, the staff member of the Central City Library.
