Internet resources: Google Maps release 3D maps

Google announced the launch of 3D maps in its Google Maps. Users of service can download and install an application for browsers called Earth View (to use 3D view you need the Google Earth Plugin), which will allow to unite possibilities of two services, reads the official blog of the company.

The Earth View application will enable users to navigate their way through 3D maps of the cities, Earth views, models of famous buildings and tourists’ sights. At the same time it will not encompass all the options provided by Google Earth.

Google has timed the application’s launch to the Earth Day, which was celebrated on April, 22. The Google Geo’s vice president confessed that the company’s team failed to release an application just in time for the holiday.

The plugin was firstly released in 2008 to developers and since then thousands of sites have used it to create many applications and even games.

An application is supported by Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 7, Firefox and Flock on PC with Windows.
