The structure of Russian Internet is still not ready for introduction of websites with addresses in Russian language. Denis Yakovenchuk, representative of “Garant Park Telecom” - domain names registrar company - announced on “RIF+KIB” forum that Russian web didn’t recognize all the symbols, which can be used in writing domain names in Cyrillic alphabet.

"We launched beta versions with Cyrillic names, - Mr Yakovenchuk said. – It turned out that names, which used only Cyrillic letters, dashes and numbers “1” and “2” worked well. Otherwise, he claimed, there aroused problems either with website’s opening of e-mail. Experts are at their wit’s end, as they need to think of a counterpart for the character “@” (at sign, at symbol) which is used in the e-mail addresses and only in Roman alphabet. "We are not sure if by the launch of the .RF domain the whole structure of Runet will allow to represent Cyrillic names", - expert claims. The first Cyrillic domain is expected to be launched in the autumn.
