During restoration works the authorities of Kolomenskoy culture preserve decided to allot a ground for construction of a church dedicated to the victory in Poltava battle. The place for the cathedral is located near the renewed palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich in the southern part of the preserve, - said to Interfax – Religion agency the director of Moscow State Joint Artistic Historian, Architectural, Natural and Landscape Culture Preserve Kolomenskoye-Ismailovo-Lefortovo-Lyublino Lyudmila Kolesnikova.

The former palace of Alexei Mikhailovich connected in 17th century to the active Church of Our Lady of Kazan by a passage. It was a house church and Alexei Mikhailovich and his wife used the passage to attend services.

To avoid the landscape violation, the palace was reconstructed in another part of the culture preserve, keeping the Church of Our Lady of Kazan at its usual place. Besides, the restorers renewed the passage, leaving a big ground for the construction of a new church.

‘If the state and church authorities come to the conclusion on reconstructing the church then it will be a splendid complete complex. Moreover this monument should be built in honor of the victory in Poltava Battle because this was the place where Peter celebrated the victory’, - explained L. Kolesnikova.
