Regions of Russia: Holy Bible translated into Khakas language

The presentation of the book “New Testament” in the Khakas language will take place at the Reading Room of the National Library n. a. N. G. Domozhakov on May 13. It will bring together translators of the edition, representatives of public organizations, priests of Abakan and Kyzyl Diocese and staff of the Institute for Bible Translation.

The translated “New Testament” (“Наа молчағ” - Khakas) – is a joint work of translators, philological and theological editors of the Institute for Bible Translation.

Translation of the New Testament into the Khakas language was carried out by Ilya Topoev, Galina Litvinenko and Tatiana Borgoyakova and took more than 10 years. The book’s circulation is 3000 printed copies.

The Institute for Bible Translation is a scientific non-profit organization founded in 1973 in Stockholm, whose main aim is translation and publication of the Bible in the languages of non-Slavic peoples living in Russia and other countries of the CIS. Since 1991 it has been operating in Russia. The organization cooperates with the Russian Academy of Sciences (Literature and Language Department, Institute of Russian language), carries out research work in Bible studies, and also prepares personnel. In various translation projects the Institute for Bible Translation works closely with international organizations for Bible Translation, Societies for Bible Studies, and the Summer Institute of Linguistics.
