Regions of Russia: Festival of historical reconstruction to be launched in Nizhny Novgorod

The regional festival of historical reconstruction called “Shield and Sword” will take place on June 25-26 in Nizhny Novgorod at the Museum of Architecture and Folk Culture of Nizhny Novgorod Volga region. The event is dedicated to the Fatherland’s defenders, who were the first to meet the enemy’s invasion on June 24 1812 (the Patriotic War of 1812) and on June 22 1941 (the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945).

The festival has been organized by joint efforts of the Nizhny Novgorod regional public culture organization “Nizhny Novgorod Restorers’ Union”, the Department of the Federal Service for the cultural heritage protection in Volga Federal District, the Nizhny Novgorod  association of military and historical clubs  “NOVIK”, the Nizhny Novgorod State Reserve-Museum of History and Architecture with a support of the Ministry for support and development of small business, consumer’s market and services of Nizhny Novgorod region.

The festival will bring together over fifty restorers from Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk, Vyksa, Moscow and many other cities. The spectators and guests will have a chance to see the reconstruction of military mode of life during two wars, battles, and an exposition of military and historical modeling.
