World libraries: Google is o digitize 400 000 books of the Austrian National Library

Yesterday, on June 15, the Austrian National Library announced that it had signed the Agreement with Google company. As a part of the project the Internet giant will digitize over 400 000 of books of the library which are not under copyright.

Google will pay about 30 million Euro for the digitization according to AP. Under the Agreement conditions Google is obliged to pay the digitization cost of all the books which is varying from 50 to 100 Euro per item.

The Austrian National Library houses one of the largest world collections of 16-19th century literature of over 120 million pages.
