IT and Education: E-education to be implemented in Tyumen schools

An educational system of Tyumen region is actively introducing latest information technologies. The governor of Tyumen region Vladimir Yakushev believes, that informatization — is a necessary requirement of the time and compulsory condition for accessibility of a quality education.

All the comprehensive schools of Tyumen region are reported to have Internet connection, libraries in all the secondary schools provide access to electronic educational resources, 80% of schools use net electronic textbooks, 75% of teachers make use of information technologies.

The Tyumen region is developing the system of electronic interaction with pupils and their parents: Net-school software implementation will enable to monitor pupils’ results via electronic class registers and school record books.

What is more, Tyumen has a high-speed fiber-optics communication line of data transmission, which brings together all the city’s schools. Net-school system has been introduced in all the schools of region’s center. In 2011 this system is planned to be implemented in the schools of Tyumen region. In the future all region’s schools will introduce electronic teachers’ room.

Serious attention is brought to the development of distant education for disabled children. Already now 45 children are making use of distant education. By the end of 2010 135 children from 17 municipalities of the region will study distantly.

“Accessibility of the quality education is one of the primary goals. Its success depends on the system’s informatization, implementation of modern information technologies in the educational process”, — considers Vladimir Yakushev.
