Libraries of Russia: Forum in Mikhailovskoye estate attracts librarians from all over Russia
The Mikhailovskoye A. S. Pushkin State Memorial Museum-Preserve welcomes participants of the 4th All-Russian Forum of School Librarians called “Mikhailovskoye-2010”. Forum’s inauguration ceremony will kick off on July, 1 at the museum-preserve’s scientific-cultural center. The event will be attended by the vice-speaker of the RF State Duma, the Olympic Champion, the Honored Master of Sports of Russia Svetlana Zhurova, aide of the Plenipotentiary Envoy of the RF President in the North-Western Federal District Eugeny Makarov. Forum will bring together over 300 librarians from 60 regions of Russian Federation, authorities, representatives of public organizations, leading Russian publishing companies, cultural workers and scientists.
The forum’s program includes a number of professional sections based on the urgent tendencies of school libraries’ development in the context of the National Educational initiative “Our New School”, master classes and training events for the qualification improvement. Nowadays school libraries make up 49% of the total number of libraries in Russia, and according to the forum’s organizers they should not be a “weak link” in the library system.
Three school librarians of Russia will be awarded the new special prize “For loyalty to profession”.
Forum “Mikhailovskoye 2010” has been organized by the Russian School Library Association and the Ministry of Education and Science.
