Internet resources: CIS document database goes online

By end of 2010 Internet users will get an access to the database of legal acts and other documents of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). An agreement on current database modernization was signed between the CIS Executive Committee, Intergovernmental Foundation for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS member states and Belorussian IT company “Qulix Systems” on September 8 at the headquarters of the CIS Executive Committee in Moscow.

Creation of the new database will enable CIS Executive Committee officers, governmental bodies and CIS departments, as well as every Internet users to get access to the full-text document database spanning the whole history of CIS. It covers all multilateral intergovernmental contracts, agreements, memoranda, as well as decisions of the Council of the Heads of States, Council of Heads of the government and other CIS bodies.

Urgency of modernization of the CIS Executive Committee database was defined by a large number of documents, accumulated within 20 years of existence of the Commonwealth, as well as introduction of new, up-to-date methods of data processing.
