International events: Conference on 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald finished in St. Petersburg

The International scientific conference called “Destinies of the Slavic and the echo of Grunwald. The choice of the way by Russian lands and peoples of Eastern Europe in the Middle Ages and early modern period” came to an end on October 24 2010 at the St. Petersburg State University.

The conference prepared by specialists of the History of Slavic and Balkan countries Department with a support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, was timed to 600th anniversary of one of the greatest battles of the Middle Ages, which also brought together Russian regiments, - the Battle of Grunwald (Tannenberg), fought on July 15 1410.

Historians from Belarus, Hungary, Lithuania, Moldavia, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Finland and Estonia discussed the influence of the “battle of peoples” on the choice of historical way of Russian lands and peoples of the Eastern Europe in the Middle Ages and early modern period.
