Historvius website – is a guide to historic sites, from the most famous national treasures to the oft-forgotten hidden gems with detailed encyclopedic reference, as well as a convenient tool for planning your holiday.

On the homepage you can use several search tools, launching your search either by the Country, Time Period (Date), Historic Period (for example, “Early Modern”, “Napoleonic Wars”, “Soviet Russia”) or by the Historic Figure. There is also a free search where you can enter a search term or historic sites by name.

Information on each historic site is very detailed. It encompasses the name of the site both in English and in the original language, period and date, related sites, contact details (address, phone, e-mail), as well as directions on how to get to the site by public transport and ticket information. What is more, you can find a brief history of the sights and interesting facts, related to them directly or indirectly.

Russia’s sights are also accessible at Historvius, though there are few of them. Users can also contribute to development of the project and its content by uploading historic sites, provided they are competent at the subject.

Apart from the simple search tool, Historvius offers something unusual – a tool for compiling non-standard itineraries to this or that country (or countries).
