Russian history: theoretical and practical conference “Pskov land in the past and today”

November 22-23, 2010 Pskov State History, Architecture and Art culture preserve holds “Pskov land in the past and today” theoretical and practical conference.

Among the participants - employees of the Pskov museum, the Pskov Archaeological Center, teachers of the S. M. Kirov Pskov State Pedagogical University, as well as guests from Staraya Ladoga and Moscow. Investigations cover the archaeological study of Pskov and the Pskov land, historical past of Pskov and the region. A number of speeches is devoted to outstanding residents of Pskov and Pskov lands, who have contributed to its development.

As part of the conference, the "Evidence of past centuries. Pskov Kremlin according to archaeological data” exhibition, reveals the stages in the archaeological study of the Pskov Kremlin. The exhibition presents the objects found during archaeological excavation, manufactured in the Pskov Kremlin and Dovmontov city from 1930 to 1992, and stored in the Pskov museum.

The exhibited items date range from the beginning of 1 thousand AD to the 18th century. A large collection of the 10-12th centuries from Krom (Pskov Kremlin) represents articles of jewelry, carving, iron-making industries. As to the pre-revolutionary findings, the exhibition highlights a part of the treasure of silver coins of the 16th century found in the Kremlin in 1885.
