Libraries of Russia: Scientific and Practical conference held in Saratov

The All-Russian scientific and practical conference “Public libraries of Russia: transformation in time” is being held on November 9 – 11 2010 at the Saratov Central City Library.

The conference has brought together librarians from Saratov and Saratov Oblast, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Perm and other cities of Russia.

High on the conference agenda are the following issues: establishment and development of public libraries; modern public municipal libraries  — a new type of a public library; model standard of public libraries’ performance, its introduction; features of public libraries informatization, their emergence as information centers for the population; management of public library in modern conditions; libraries and the forthcoming reform of social institutions; consolidation movement of public libraries: history and present day.

It is planned to publish collected articles based on the conference materials.
