International events: Fourth Russian World Assembly launched in Moscow
On November 2 - 4 2010 in Moscow the Russkiy Mir Foundation will hold the Fourth Assembly of the Russian World, which following the tradition will kick off on the eve of the National Unity Day.
On November 2 at the A.S. Pushkin State Institute of Russian Language the Russkiy Mir Foundation jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Rossotrudnichestvo will hold the International Forum of teachers of foreign schools with Russian language teaching.
Support of the Russian language learning – is one of the top priorities of cooperation in educational sector between the Russian Federation and Far and Near Abroad countries. The forum brings together over 200 teachers, principals of foreign schools and Russian language centers, representing more than 50 countries of the world. The multifaceted program covers a plenary session, roundtable discussions, presentations of Russian language textbook sets, ceremony of laying flowers to the A.S. Pushkin monument within the framework of the international action “Symbols of the Russian World”.
The Year 2010 – is the Year of the Teacher in Russia. The Assembly and the forum’s main theme and motto is – “Teacher of the Russian World”. Russkiy Mir Foundation, which was founded by the Decree of the President of Russia targeted at popularization of the Russian language, support of Russian language learning programs abroad, is anxious to attach international importance to the Year of the Teacher, and attract not just Russian but also foreign teachers of the Russian language.
The opening ceremony and the work of the Fourth Assembly will bring together top officials of Russia, heads of ministries and departments, diplomatic representations, public organizations, compatriots’ associations, Russian and foreign scholars of authority, Russian language teachers, cultural workers, representatives of religious creeds, expert community, Mass Media – totaling over 1000 people from 70 countries.
Two discussions will take place during the work of the assembly. The discussion called “The Meaning and Values of the Russian World” will turn the light on the concept and philosophic problems of the Russian world. Russian and foreign teachers of the Russian language, heads of universities of the Near and Far Abroad will highlight the problems of the Russian language teaching within the framework of the discussion entitled “Teacher of the Russian World”.
The program of the Assembly includes roundtable discussions and seminars on the following topics: “Russian world and Modernization of Russia”, “Russian Language in the System of Education of Foreign Secondary and Higher Educational Institutions”, “Mass Media of the Russian World”, “Russian speaking Diaspora”, “Russkiy Mir Foundation Grant programs”, “Legal framework and work of Russian centers”.
