Regions of Russia: Exhibition project “War and Peace. Yasnaya Polyana – Tomsk”
On December 24 2010 within the framework of the year dedicated to work of Leo N. Tolstoy, the Tomsk Regional Local Lore Museum jointly with the State Memorial and Natural Preserve “Museum-Estate of Leo Tolstoy “Yasnaya Polyana” (“Clear Glade”) presented an exhibition project “War and Peace. Yasnaya Polyana – Tomsk”.
The exhibition puts on show documents, manuscripts, and private belongings of the great Russia writer. Visitors display a special interest in costumes of the time of the Patriotic War of 1812.
Authors of the project reveal secrets of the plot and the history of creation of a famous epic novel “War and Peace”, as well as an unknown page of history of Tomsk culture, “a military secret” of the Tomsk library, - evacuation of the L.N. Tolstoy fund to the Tomsk State University Scientific Library.
The project is intended for a wide public and gives an opportunity to turn public attention to the greatness of the Russian language and literature. Familiarization with collections displayed at the exhibition enhances development of region’s cultural and spiritual potential.
