Russian language abroad: Seminar on innovative technologies in Russian language teaching launched in Egypt
The seminar “Russian language in a computer classroom” kicked off at the Russian Center of Culture and Science in Cairo on December 9 2010. It was held by leading specialists of the Faculty of Professional Skills Improvement of Russian Language Teachers, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, and its dean — professor Tatjana Balykhina.
The event was held within the framework of the federal target program “Russian language 2006 – 2010”. The program included lections, training events, master classes, presentations, video lessons and roundtable sessions. The book exhibition put on display over 100 print and electronic editions. Apart from it was held a presentation of the video collection of the Russian language teacher.
Within the framework of the seminar its participants discussed a wide range of issues concerning in particular innovative methods of Russian language teaching, modern electronic and didactic aids in Russian language teaching, Russian language with a computer, issues related to the quality of Russian language teaching and testing etc.
The seminar brought together lecturers from Russian language courses in Cairo, Alexandria, Rabat, Amman, Beirut, professors and graduates of Egyptian universities of “Ain Shams”, the Cairo University, universities of Helwan, as well as colleagues of foreign language courses of Sharm el-Sheikh. They all displayed a keen interest in reports delivered by leading specialists of Russian language teaching, and themselves took an active participation in discussion of acquired information.
