Publishing and Bookselling: Russia becomes central participant at the London Book Fair

Around 50 authors, poets, publicists, philologists and critics from Russia will attend the Russian exposition which will become the center of the London Book Fair in April 2011.

“It is symbolic that at the 40th London Book Fair Russia has become its central participant”, said London Book Fair director Alistar Burtenshaw.

The Russian exposition at the fair, April 11 - 14, will be organized by the cultural association Academia Rossica with support of the Russian Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication and the British Council.

Svetlana Adzhubei, the Head of the Academia Rossica, told that apart from 50 authors, the capital of Britain would bring together over 70 publishers from Russia. Russia’s multifaceted program will feature around 100 events to be launched not only in London, but in other cities of the United Kingdom as well.

On the Cosmonautics Day, April 12, when the world will celebrate 50th anniversary of the first manned flight to space, organizers of the Russian exposition are planning to launch live broadcast with the International Space Station.
