World History: “Cyril and Methodius Readings” in Rome

Formation of Slavic language through Christianity comes under the spotlight at the “Cyril and Methodius Readings” in Rome. A scientific and educational seminar, organized by the Kiev Theological Academy and Seminary, the St. Petersburg Theological Academy and Seminary, the Institute for Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Lomonosov Moscow State University, is taking place at the St. Catherine Russian Orthodox Church in Rome. 

Conference’s participants are expected to deliver reports highlighting cultural and historical context of Slavic language formation, issues of linguistics, problems of translation, analysis of Church Slavic written sources, history of Slavic and Church Slavic book culture, as well as the history of Christian Church in Slavic lands and its contacts with Constantinople.

The “Cyril and Methodius Readings” will run up to February 27.
