Publishing and Bookselling: Minsk International Book Fair

XVIII Minsk International Book Fair takes place from 9 to 13 February 2011 at the National Exhibition Centre BelExpo (Minsk).

Over 600 exhibitors from 22 countries attend the forum. Among them - representatives of Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Venezuela, India, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Cuba, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, France, Sweden and Switzerland.

The guest of honor at the fair 2011 is Germany. Its exhibition features more than 700 books issued by 250 publishing houses. The stand of the country - the guest of honor has an area of 250 square meters. Visitors can see the most beautiful German books, literary novelties of 2010, books for children and youth. Presentation of the German book production will be accompanied by a variety of programs. In particular, scheduled are meetings with German authors, the holders of various awards, their autograph session. At the conclusion of the exhibition all the presented books will be donated to the Belarusian libraries and institutions.

The program of the Minsk Forum will be diverse. There will be the library day and day of knowledge. In addition, there will be the international roundtable on the issues of mutual enrichment of literatures and mutual translations. Theme of the event is “The Belarusian book as a means of cultural relations ". Numerous presentations, autograph sessions, readings, discussions, and creative meetings will take place. It is expected that the current fair will be visited by more than 50 thousand people.
