Presidential Library representatives have attended a round table as a part of “Rumyantsev Readings” scientific conference

April 21, 2011 at the Russian State Library in the framework of the International Scientific Conference "Rumyantsev Readings" was held a round table "Intelligent and electronic resources of the Russian Federation regions as the basis for content of the regional centers of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library". Among the participants were representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Moscow Region, libraries, museums and archives of the Moscow Region, Vladimir Region Culture Department, libraries of Penza and Ryazan Regions, the Republic of Karelia and the Republic of Mari El. The discussion was also attended by representatives of vocational schools and academic institutions of Moscow.

During the discussion, were raised questions regarding the acquisition profile and selection criteria of resources for development of collections of regional branches of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library in the RF regions, the integration of resources in libraries, museums, archives and research organizations, and providing integrated access to content, as well as problems coordinating the work of partners in the project "Regional electronic resources, legal issues in the creation and use of electronic resources, and expert review of the quality of traditional and electronic resources.

Representatives of the Presidential Library, Elena B. Gruznova, Head of the Development and Processing of Information Resources, Lyudmila D. Savelieva, Head of Library Service, Julia G. Selivanova, Head of Linguistic and Software Technology Support, and Tatyana L. Maskhulia, Deputy Chief of the Development and Processing of Information Resources, introduced participants to the principles of the development of a national electronic resource on the basis of the Presidential Library in regards of the regional content, provision of access to local and remote users and linguistic services of electronic catalog of the Presidential Library.

During the discussion, the participants unanimously agreed that the prior task of the regional centers of the Presidential Library should be the integration of electronic scientific and cultural heritage of the country, and also noted the timeliness of the event and the relevance of the issues involved.
