Net Applications company has evaluated the shares of the most popular browsers in March 2011 worldwide.

Despite recent IE9 release Internet Explorer is losing its grounds. Last month the market share of Microsoft’s web browser dropped to 55,9%. In February IE was controlling 56,8% of the market, while in March 2010 its share amounted to 60,7%.

Firefox’s share, which is at the second place of the rating, has hardly changed during past month and reaches 21,8%. A case in point: a year ago this figure equaled 24,5%.

Browsers like Google Chrome and Apple Safari have strengthened their positions owning 10,9 and 6,4% of market share in February and up to 11,6 and 6,6% in March.

The market share of Opera has not changed and remains around 2,2%. Opera Mini occupies about 1,1% of the market.

All other browsers in March cover 0,9%.
