Works by Azerbaijani writers of the middle generation are being converted into digital format.

The “New writers and creative personalities” organization has launched a project called “Enrichment of Internet resources in native language by digitizing works of the middle generation writers and making them available in the National Virtual Library”. The project is backed by the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of Azerbaijan.

The Chairman of the organization, writer and culture expert Aydin Khan (Abilov) reported that on the website of the National Virtual Library at www.kitabxana.net users can freely access more than a thousand e-books, textbooks, dictionaries, examples of the world and national culture.

The next stage of the project implies digitization of works by the middle generation writers and making them too available in the virtual library.

The project aims to give more opportunities to patrons, first and foremost, to young ones to access works by Azerbaijani writers and poets, and keep foreign Net-surfers up-to-data with the culture, literature, art of Azerbaijan, national and spiritual values of people. Another goal is via the virtual library to involve the young generation in online reading and communication.
