On July 26, 2011 the “Naval Cities” historical and cultural expedition set off to Severomorsk where St. Petersburg artists, historians and journalists are going to stage an exhibition with a focus on the Russian Navy.

The exhibition of paintings, graphic works and retrospective photographs called “Navy. History. Victory”, that will run at the City’s and Navy’s History Museum until August, 20, has become a present to Severomorsk residents for the Navy Day.

Graphic works by such artists as Leonid Akentyev, Igor Dementyev, Marina Busareva, Yekaterina Tchubich, works by sailors of the Northern Fleet - Maxim Tchubich and Alexander Shaurov will travel to the town in Murmansk Region. Along with them on display will go photo materials, dedicated to the history of the Navy originating from the collection of the war correspondent Arif Saparov.

Organizers though mark that the exhibition is not the key target of the “Naval Cities”: “In Severomorsk historians, journalists, artists and photo artists will collect materials for shaping future expositions in naval cities and the Russian Navy bases”, project’s organizers announced.

This is not the first event launched within “Naval Cities”: before that works of art and photographs by photographers, who had survived the siege, were put on show to celebrate the Victory Day in Sevastopol. Short-term plans include visits to Baltiysk, Vladivostok and other naval cities and towns.
