IT and Society: Procedure of universal e-card issue and service in Moscow approved
The Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin has signed a resolution on organization of production, issue and service of universal electronic cards in Moscow.
According to the document, within a month Moscow Department for Information Technologies is to submit for approval the graphic design of the universal electronic card. The card will be issued free of charge to citizens of Russia from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2013 inclusive based on their written requests, while to the rest – from January 1, 2014.
Sergei Sobyanin also approved a list of regional e-apps for the card, which ensure authorized access of citizens to public or any other services.
Earlier the Mayor said that “the universal electronic card is not only the prototype of the social card of the resident of Moscow, but is a step forward, nevertheless it is necessary to ensure a gradual transition from the current social card (4 million holders in Moscow) to the new format”.
He mentioned that the list of existing services which are offered by the social card will grow to include “issues, related to health and social insurance”, as well as an “all-transport ticket option”.
