IT and Security: New versions of Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 and Kaspersky Antivirus 2012 released

16 August 2011

On August 15, 2011 Russian computer security company Kaspersky Lab released new versions of its leading products Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 and Kaspersky Antivirus 2012. New versions provide updated mechanisms of protecting computers using a combination of locally based and cloud-based security. Apart from this, anti-virus engine has been optimized to become faster and more efficient.

One of the major innovations of Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 and Kaspersky Antivirus 2012 is a combination of local and cloud security. Such a hybrid approach allows the program to lower the load on system resources, keeping most of its anti-virus mechanisms off the system in the cloud. Users themselves anonymously contribute data concerning new viruses to the cloud base, that is available to all users of Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 and Kaspersky Antivirus 2012 24/7. The company says that such a method is more efficient in the struggle against malicious codes and online threats.

Other improved features of Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 and Kaspersky Antivirus 2012 include an expansion of the Safe Run sandbox. Now the sandbox can include both apps and some dubious websites.

New products boast a brand new revamped interface that reminds previously released Kaspersky Antivirus mobile apps. Interface features four core windows: Scanning, Update, Parental Control and Access to Settings/Reports. Many functions have extra drop-down menus for a more accurate setting.
