World libraries: Joint project of two largest libraries of Novosibirsk and Berlin
August 3, 2011 was signed an agreement on a joint partnership project betwee the two largest libraries in Novosibirsk and Berlin.
"The German cultural heritage in Siberia: Books of 18-19th centuries from the collection of Kolyvan-Resurrection plants of Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library" project is aimed at expanding access to unique editions of works of German scientists and save them as part of the cultural heritage of Germany in Russia. The collection consists of books of representatives of the technical intelligentsia, who had worked in Siberia.
The first printed catalog of books by German authors will be issued as part of the project. It is expected that its presentation and a round table attended by German experts on the conservation and study of rare books and collections will take place within the framework of the Interregional Theoretical and Practical Conference "E-Siberia" in November 2011. In future, the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library plans to continue to produce printed catalogs of German books from the collection of Kolyvan-Resurrection plants.
In addition, "The German cultural heritage in Siberia" electronic collection of books will be created, which will include electronic copies of German printed books and journals, obtained after scanning the original sources with planetary non-contact scanner.
