Libraries of Russia: “Library’s activities for popularization of Russia’s symbols” conference in Kirov

The All-Russian theoretical and practical conference “Library’s activities for popularization of symbols of the Russian Federation” is running from September 28th to September 30th 2011 at Herzen State Regional Scientific Library in Kirov.

The conference in Kirov is a part of a series of professional events dedicated to popularization of state symbols, which are carried out with support of the Ministry of Culture of Russia in different regions of Russia within “Culture of Russia (2006-2011)” federal target program. The co-organizers have decided to devote this conference to the outstanding Russian scholar of heraldry, popularizer of heraldic knowledge, publisher of “Gerboved” journal (1913-1914), who was born in Vyatka – Sergei Nikolaevich Troynitsky (1882-1948).

The conference and its reports will address the following themes:

- “Popularization of heraldic knowledge”.

- “State and territorial symbols”.

- “Study of coats of arms and personality”.

The conference will feature a meeting of the Heraldic Council under the President of Russia, and opening of the exhibition “Symbols of Vyatka Krai” at Kirov Regional Local Lore Museum.
