Memory of Russia: Historical and Cultural Festival “Gnezdovo Barrows 2011” in the Smolensk Region

"Gnezdovo Barrows - 2011" Historical and Cultural festival takes place 17-18 September, 2011 at the archaeological site Gnezdovo, the Smolensk region.   It is attended by clubs of reenactors from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Smolensk, Pskov, Novgorod the Great. In the open air camp, during two days, the participants will recreate the atmosphere of the early Middle Ages.

The festival program includes military exercises, competitions of skandball, Icelandic wrestling "glima" and archery, accompanied by various workshops.
