
Presidential Library: New Arrivals
Presidential Library goes on with publication of materials, provided by the State Public Historical Library for digitization, on its portal.
The “State Authority” collection has added copies of editions which deal with activities of supreme and central government bodies of Imperial Russia – the State Council, the Committee of Ministers, ministries, the Synod etc. (open the link).
Those who take an interest in the history of church governance in Russia may discover T. V. Barsov’s “The Most Holy Synod in its Past” (St. Petersburg, 1896) and “Reports of the Chief-Procurator of the Most Holy Synod concerning the Department of Orthodox Confession of 1885-1886, 1888-1895, 1898-1912, 1914”, which cast light on governance of the Russian Orthodox Church; on dissemination and approval of Orthodox religion (missions, splits and sectarianism); spiritual education (establishment of religious institutions, issue of religious literature, censorship); on attitude of the Russian Church toward common-faith churches of the East and Slavic lands; on material resources of the church etc.
The centenary of the history of the State Council and the Committee of Ministers can be observed in Historical overview of activities of the Committee of Ministers (Vol. 1-5.
