Russian culture abroad: Traditional Festival of Russian Culture kicks off in Rome
A traditional Festival of Russian Culture “Russia-Italy. Through the Ages” kicked off on November 29th 2011 in Rome. The venue for the festival has become the newly-opened Russian Center of Science and Culture which launched a presentation of an exhibition of a photo artist Vladimir Sachkov.
However the highlight of the event will become the award ceremony of “Russia-Italy. Through the Ages” International Literary Prize. The ceremony will take place on December 6th 2011 at the Literature House. The prize was established in 2007 on the initiative of the Boris Yeltsin Foundation, and is annually awarded in Italy for the best translation of Russian literature into Italian. Among its laureates were prominent translators-researches of Russian studies.
“Russia-Italy. Through the Ages” Festival is running as a part of the official program of events of the Cultural Exchange Year for two countries under the patronage of Svetlana Medvedeva.
